I work as researcher and project coordinator on health litercy researach projects with partners all over the world. I have been acting as advisor and guest lecturer on health literacy for universities as well as international and national organisations such as EU, WHO, ECDC, the European Parliament and Council of Europe. In addition, I am the focal point for Health Literacy Europe - a network for advancing European health literacy.

My PhD dissertation Health literacy: a European public health disparity is was obtained 6 November 2013 at Maastricht University.
It includes research from three different research projects: the HLS-EU project, the Joint Venture on health literacy as business action by CSR Europe and the Right to access to health project by Council of Europe.

I followed the executive course on global health diplomacy organised by Graduate Institute, Geneva. It provided the theoretical background to the advocay experience I had from working as NGO with the United Nations in the 1990s.

1999-2005
I graduated with a Bachelor and Master of Public Health Science from Copenhagen University. My Master thesis included research with Lene Hammer-Helmuch on poor children's perception of health in Denmark.
Before my studies in Copenhagen I studied medicine from 1993-1998 at Odense University before changing my career path without completing the medical degree.
